The VASAB Committee on Spatial Planning and Development of the Baltic Sea Region (VASAB CSPD/BSR) was chaired by Denmark from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. Denmark held the chairmanship of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) during the same period.

‘The European spirit in action’ is the message of the latest Interreg BSR newsletter that addresses the success of Interreg projects. An article about the Baltic LINes project explains how transnational cooperation created a common understanding and aligned methods between countries around the Baltic Sea to jointly tackle maritime spatial planning challenges. 

With the NSB CoRe project coming to the end on April 2019, also the Spatial Visioning Process carried out as part of the project by VASAB Secretariat has been finalized.

With Baltic LINes project coming to an end in April 2019, Baltic LINes team invites to explore the project summary that addresses main activities and lessons learned  during the project. 

Alongside with two other platform projects and 9 extension stage projects a Capacity4MSP project platform has been approved by Interreg BSR Monitoring Committee on 11th April 2019.

In December last year VASAB launched an application for the Young Planners’ Contest “Liveable Places and Spaces of Tomorrow”. Contest’s aim is to bring together young professionals and give them a chance to create a network of next generation planners by expressing their expectations and perspective of the future of the Baltic Sea Area.

VASAB has initiated the Young Planners’ Contest “Liveable Places and Spaces of Tomorrow” to bring together young professionals, give them a chance to create a network of next generation planners, and provide them with an opportunity to express their expectations and perspective of the future of the Baltic Sea Region.

After intensive and fruitful collaboration BSR countries agreed on coherent approach for MSP output data structure. The BSR MSP Data Expert subgroup had elaborated “The Guidelines on transboundary MSP output data structure” that were agreed by the joint HELCOM-VASAB MSP Working Group in its 17th meeting on 14-15 November 2018 in Riga.
