PartiSEApate project partner meeting, Palanga Marine spatial planning as a tool for coherent offshore wind energy development in the Baltic Sea Region. Offshore wind parks have been a key driver for MSP as they represent a new place-based infrastructure, often in competition for space with other uses, and no comprehensive mapping of existing or planned marine wind energy park As the environmental pillar of the EU Integrated Maritime Policy, the Maritime Strategy Framework Directive sets the goal of achieving 'Good Environmental Status' of marine waters by 2020. MSP is viewed as one of the measures to achieve this goal. But there are still a lot of unknowns, in particular in regard to the interlinkages between habitats, species (especiall VASAB CSPD/BSR meeting, Helsinki Shipping and ports are very significant for economic development. Shipping is already intense within the Baltic Sea, and forecasts predict continued growth both in terms of frequency and transport volumes, increasing the risk of accidents. This workshop will bring together INSPIRE contact points as well as the various maritime data providers throughout each country, in order to explore possible a process for making data networks compatible In October 2013, regions and cities will be finalising preparations for the 2014-2020 cohesion policy, rural development and fisheries programmes. The OPEN DAYS will offer EU institutions, managing authorities and final beneficiaries a chance to exchange and network on new approaches even before the new operational programmes (OPs) are implemented in 2014.
